  1. I'm a disabled veteran. My chronic pain finally pushed me to planning suicide. I was 25 years in recovery after getting addicted to heroin in Vietnam. I didn't want to return the pain of being a practing addicted again. I tried every non opioid treatment available. One of my mentors in recovery "a doctor " shot himself in the heart; rather than return to the life of addiction; I did want to end up like him. I've been managing my pain with suboxin for the last 5 years.
The issue that bothers me the most is when I must go to a doctor and they see that I'm on suboxin; Then I get "the wink and the nod" if I must have pain medication for some serious medical condition. Professionals need to be educated; To some of us it's life and death decisions.
